Bringing together students from across Dutch universities, the national MPOP community event in Eindhoven highlighted the power of connection — between people, technology, and design — while celebrating milestones in optics and photonics education.
Over 50 MasterPlus Optics & Photonics students from Eindhoven University of Technology, Delft University of Technology, and the University of Twente gathered in Eindhoven for a national community event celebrating innovation, design, and connection.
The day started at NatLab, a historic centre of technological innovation, with an inspiring talk by Ruud Vullers (SMART Photonics). His presentation highlighted the power of integrated photonics, industry career paths, and what it means to work at the speed of light in a high‑tech startup.
In the afternoon, students explored Dutch Design Week, experiencing how technology, creativity, and sustainability interplay in cutting‑edge design. The programme wrapped up in true Dutch style with informal drinks and bitterballen, marking a vibrant and inspiring community gathering — and celebrating a major milestone: the first official MasterPlus Optics & Photonics graduate.
